By great demand the second Penrith Santa Dash is returning in aid of local charity Hospice at Home. Last year Penrith Town Centre was flooded with a sea of red, namely 150 Santa’s of all ages running, jogging or walking the 2.5 mile circuit of Penrith Town Centre.
Charity Fundraiser Julie Allen is appealing for local people to enter into the Christmas spirit and join up and help make this a day a real success for the town and the charity. This is an opportunity for people to support Penrith and also support a vital charity that cares for the local community. It will take place on the afternoon of Sunday 28th November and will be part of the festivities for the annual Penrith Christmas Lights Switch-On.
Santa Dashers can choose to walk, jog or run this fun route around Penrith town centre. The Santa Dash will start at Penrith Monument at 3pm following a ten minute warm-up from fitness trainer Karen Rathbone. The route starts and finishes at the Monument with a well deserved refreshment and snack on return.
The Santa Dash is for everyone, for people of all ages, groups of friends or teams of workmates. Last year many families enjoyed the afternoon with Santa Dashers from toddlers to grandparents all enjoying the build up to the Christmas Festivities. While you can just pay your entry fee and take part we would encourage everyone to raise as much in sponsorship as they can.
Entries cost just £10 for adults and £5 for those under 16, and include a Santa outfit and refreshments. The fastest Santa prize is a £50 voucher from Intersport Penrith, with another special prize for top fundraiser. If you want to add rosy cheeks and nose to your attire, a face painter will be available.
Entry forms are available from Hospice at Home on 01768 210719, the Shop on Little Dockray or can be downloaded from www.hospiceathome.co.uk. Closing date 26th November.
