Experience the adventure of a life time and join a team of 50 special women to raise funds for Hospice at Home.
This is a challenge not to be under estimated, it’s 140 miles with some tough hills along the way.
The trip begins on Saturday 18th June 2011 by dipping front wheels into the Irish Sea in Whitehaven then set off into the stunning scenery of the Northern Lake District, and down in to the lush Eden Valley sleeping the first night in the Penrith vicinity. From here it’s a climb up on to the ‘Roof of England’ – the Northern Pennines. Next passing through the Durham Dales and from here it’s all downhill to our final destination on Monday 20th June into Tynemouth at the North Sea.
Registration fee is £100. This includes packed lunches and refreshments en route, accommodation and dinner on night two in Allenheads, cycle maintenance, coach back up and first aid provision.
Each participant will be asked to raise a specified amount in sponsorship and fundraising packs will be supplied to give various fundraising ideas, sponsorship forms etc. During the months prior to the event training programmes and support will be given to help prepare the cyclist for the event.
Charity Fundraiser Julie Allen said ‘the charity is excited about this fantastic new challenge for 2011. Cycling is extremely popular at present so the idea of a Coast to Coast for ladies is perfect. This is open to all women of over 18 giving the opportunity of a great 3 day break, to get fit, perhaps remember a loved one or to set yourself a challenge. For whatever reason you choose the reward will be a fantastic achievement and also importantly will help to raise an astounding £25,000 for a vital local cause, importantly caring for local people.’
If you or a group of friends, family or work colleagues are eager to join this special team to enjoy the camaraderie, through the good and bad times of hard hill climbs, and enjoy the relaxation of a glass of wine in the evening, contemplating the day and discussing what is in store for the following day, then this could be for you.
Why not make 2011 the year you set yourself a challenge and help raise funds for Hospice at Home, the local charity caring for local people with life limiting illnesses and offering support to their families and carers.
The charity would like to thank the support of local businesses NBM Travel, Arragons Cycles, Starfruits and Brief Encounter for their commitment to this event.
For further information and an application pack please phone Julie at the fundraising office on 01768 210719 who will be happy to give you all details about the event. Places are limited to 50 so early booking is recommended.
