The Santa Dash will begin at 3pm at the Monument and will be the start event of the annual Penrith Christmas Lights annual switch on. Karen Rathbone, fitness trainer, will begin the day with a festive 10 minute warm up and face painting will also be available. The route will loop by King Street/Crown Square/Ullswater Community College, Clifford Road, Ullswater Road, Castlegate, Bluebell Car Park, Middlegate and back to Devonshire Street.
We are delighted to be working with Penrith Chamber of Trade and Commerce, Penrith Lions and the local Police on this event. The Chamber of Trade and Commerce is keen to make the Christmas Lights event a very special one for local people to brighten up the economic gloom and remind us all of the importance of community spirit. To that end they are holding a massive raffle to raise money to extend the lights display and to support Hospice at Home. 20% of all monies raised in the grand raffle will be donated to the charity to continue our care for local people with a terminal illness in their own homes.
Santa Dash entries cost just £10 (adult) and £5 (under 16s) this includes the Santa outfit, something special from Greggs the Bakers and refreshments at the Finish. There will also be prizes for the fastest Santa and the top fundraiser. Sponsor forms are available from the Hospice at Home office. Sorry no dogs or reindeers!
