Thank You Ian Milburn

A Father’s Day to Remember: Ian Milburn’s Amazing Golf Challenge in Support of Local Hospices

This Father’s Day, Sunday 15th June, our wonderful Charity Ambassador Ian Milburn completed an extraordinary challenge in memory of his late father, Keith Milburn – and we couldn’t be more proud or grateful.

Ian took on the mammoth task of playing 4 rounds of golf in a single day, walking over 20 miles across four courses: Stony Holme, Carlisle Golf Club, Eden Golf Club, and finishing at the family’s beloved Brampton Golf Club, where generations of the Milburn family have shared over 125 years of memories.

All of this was done to raise vital funds for Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, Eden Valley Hospice, and Pancreatic Cancer Action – three charities that provided exceptional care and comfort during his father’s final illness.

A Personal Mission with a Powerful Message

Ian’s connection to Hospice at Home is deeply personal. During his father’s illness, our team provided home-based palliative care, offering comfort and dignity at a time of immense difficulty. While Keith ultimately passed away in Eden Valley Hospice, the early support offered by Hospice at Home gave the family precious time and space to be together – and that is something Ian has never forgotten.

“I wanted to do something to say thank you,” Ian said. “The care we received was exceptional, and I know how important it is for other families to have access to this kind of support. That’s why I’m dedicating my fundraising efforts this year to the organisations that were there for us when we needed them most.”

More Challenges Ahead…

The golf marathon was just the beginning. Ian is also committing to a series of incredible fundraising activities throughout 2025:

A weight loss challenge shared with friends and supporters – they’ve already lost over 100lbs collectively!

Four half marathons in four cities – Newcastle (July), Edinburgh (August), the Great North Run (September), and The Cumbrian Run (October) – commemorating 40 years since he and his brother first ran with their dad.

A charity Golf Day at Brampton Golf Club on Saturday 9th August – bringing together supporters and businesses in celebration and support of hospice care.
