Retail Gift Aid

Make your donated items worth 25% more at no extra cost to you with Giftaid.

What is Retail Gift Aid?

If you’re a UK taxpayer, signing up to add Gift Aid to items you donate to our charity shops makes a huge difference. With Gift Aid added, we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 raised through sales of your donated items. This costs you nothing extra and comes from the government’s Gift Aid scheme for charities.

UK taxpayers pay income or capital gains tax. So when you donate goods to our shops and complete a Gift Aid ‘declaration’, we can claim that back on your items. This means we can do even more with your generous donation – all without you having to do any extra work!

To take part, the donor is required to be a UK taxpayer and must have paid a sufficient amount of tax to cover any Gift Aid claimed on their donations in each tax year (6 April–5 April).

  • When you sign up, you’ll be given a unique Donor ID number that we’ll use to label any items you donate to enable us to record their sales value
  • You’ll be notified by email or letter of the total sales value of your items before any Gift Aid is claimed each year, giving you the opportunity to cancel your registration if your circumstances have changed - for example if you are no longer a taxpayer or have paid insufficient tax to cover your Gift Aid claims

How do I Sign up?

  • You can complete a declaration below, download and complete the Retail Gift Aid declaration form to take into your nearest shop, or register in-store by completing a declaration when you drop off your donation.
