Christmas Tree Collection

With a suggested donation of £15, we’ll pick up your Christmas tree from your doorstep, sparing you the hassle and mess, while ensuring it’s recycled sustainably. This service is available to residents in Penrith, Carlisle, Wigton, Longtown, Brampton, and Dalston—the heart of our service area.

About the collection:

This festive season, Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland invites you to be part of a unique and impactful tradition: our Christmas Tree Collection Appeal. First launched in 2016, the appeal has grown each year thanks to the dedication of local businesses and volunteers who help collect Christmas trees across the area. Last year, your support raised an incredible £16,415—equivalent to funding 54 nights of care from a registered nurse. That’s 54 nights where families could simply be together, without the roles of patient and carer taking over. By keeping families at home, we’re offering them precious time and peace during a challenging journey.

Our team will be collecting trees on 9th and 10th January 2025, so you can relax and enjoy the New Year without worrying about disposal.

How to Register Your Tree:

Signing up is simple! Just follow the link to our partner’s website, Just Helping, and enter your details along with your chosen donation amount. To make sure we find you easily—especially if you’re in a rural area—we recommend adding your What3Words location, which provides precise mapping. Registration is open from 15th November – midnight 5th January 2025.

Please remember:

  • To remove any decorations
  • To take the tree out of the pot (if it has one) or remove the base as we cannot remove or recycle these
  • Your tree must be ready to collect by 8am, please note we cannot guarantee what time or day your tree will be collected
  • Please do not try to cut up your tree before it is collected as this hinder the chipping process or reduces the possible habitat creation of the decaying tree.
  • Your tree must be left in a clear, unobstructed, and visible location. If possible, without causing obstruction – on the path in front of your property
  • Due to Health and Safety policy our lovely volunteers are unable to, under any circumstances, to enter your property (e.g. house, garden, gated driveway) or any confined or restricted space to access your tree

Thank you
