Assisted Dying Statement July 2025
The parliamentary vote on June 20th  has now passed marking an important moment for the end-of-life-care. Assisted dying raises strong views and opinions across society but It is not the role of Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland to support or oppose a change in the law on this emotive issue. Irrespective of any government decisions, our vision is to positively influence a future in which everyone within our community facing life-limiting illness, regardless of cause, receives the best possible palliative and end of life care and their families and carers receive the support they need.
We endorse the position of Hospice UK (2024) in recognising that our staff, volunteers, community organisations, patients and families will have differing views on this sensitive and emotive issue. We will continue to support our patients, carers, staff and volunteers and remain committed to enabling everyone to have a good death, knowing that their loved ones will be supported
