Who we are
Hospice at Home’s skilled team of Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants provide our exceptional core services of palliative and end of life care and support people in their last year of life also providing additional services such as Lymphoedema, Bereavement and Family Support, Befriending, Occupational Therapy and Complementary Therapy.
We provide individualised care and support to improve quality of life and our end of life care helps facilitate a peaceful and dignified death in the home and support to those who are bereaved.
Although we receive some funding from the NHS, we need to raise over 85% of our running costs in order to ensure that this vital help is available when needed and remains free of charge to patients and their families.
Our clinical service area covers a mixture of urban and rural communities, a region of approximately 1,500 square miles throughout North and East Cumbria
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and organised Events Officer to join our team. The Events Officers supports the delivery of Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland’s community and events fundraising activities. As part of the Fundraising Team and reporting to the Events & Community Lead, the postholder helps ensure that events are delivered professionally, safely, and in line with the charity’s supporter‑centred approach.
The role involves representing the charity at third‑party events, supporting the delivery of in‑house and high‑profile events (including Kendal Calling and Carlisle Racecourse Raceday), and encouraging community involvement through activities such as Blues Lotto sign‑ups, volunteer recruitment, and public engagement opportunities.
Working on an annualised hours contract, the postholder must be flexible, with a significant proportion of hours required during busy months—particularly summer—and frequent evening and weekend commitments. They will act as a warm, credible ambassador for the charity, ensuring supporters feel valued, informed and inspired.

Essential Requirements
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
- Comfortable representing the charity in public settings
- Competent in Microsoft 365
- Experience supporting events or working in a public‑facing role
- Confident, proactive and reliable
- Resilient and able to work in high‑pressure environments
- Professional and positive approach
- Willingness to embody the values of the charity
Desirable
- Events‑related training or qualification
- Experience working or volunteering in a charity environment
- Experience coordinating volunteers
