Hospice UK – This is Hospice Care Campaign Launch

Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland Joins Nationwide “This is Hospice Care” Legacy Campaign

Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland is proud to be one of 143 hospice care providers participating in Hospice UK’s nationwide legacy campaign, “This is Hospice Care.”

The campaign shines a spotlight on the remarkable range of services hospices provide, in addition to inpatient care, our services such as nursing and personal care in the home, bereavement support, complementary therapies, occupational therapy and befriending. These services support patients and their families during some of the most challenging times, all delivered free of charge locally, Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland provides this care over 1500 square miles.

The campaign comes after 2024 saw many hospice care providers nationally running a  deficit budget, some were at risk of closure, while other providers had to reduce their capacity. While the recent money promised by government to Hospice care is welcomed additional costs incurred by the recent budget in October will not address the rising costs, reduced NHS grants funding, deficit budgets and absence of sustainable funding.

Our outstanding care is enabled due to 85% charitable funding from generous supporters, businesses and volunteers in our local community. “This is Hospice Care” campaign is not only aiming to shine a light on the variety of care that is accomplished by clinical teams but to also ask people to consider supporting charities like Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland through their Will to enable this to continue into the future.

Debbie McKenna, Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland CEO, shared:

“Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland believe everyone deserves choice, dignity and comfort in their final stages of life. This is enabled through the outstanding care allowing patients to stay in familiar surroundings, with those who matter to them during some of the most challenging times, we have one chance to get this right and promote a legacy of peace and emotional reassurance for those left behind.

Providing a gift in your Will is an incredible gesture that allows us to continue our services and plan for the future. Through the legacy campaign we are inviting everyone to play a part in our vital mission, not just for today but building a legacy of outstanding compassionate care for future generations. Together, we can ensure these essential services continue to be available to everyone who needs them.
