Lonsdale Fest

Lonsdale Fest: A Tribute of Love, Strength and Gratitude

When Pam lost her beloved husband just before Christmas, her world changed forever. But amid the grief and heartache, she found solace in the kindness, compassion, and unwavering support of Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland. Determined to give back, Pam and her neighbours organised Lonsdale Fest—a heartfelt celebration of life, music and community—to raise funds and awareness for the charities that stood by her in her darkest moments.

Held in memory of her husband, Lonsdale Fest was more than just a fundraising event. It was a deeply personal tribute and a way to channel her grief into something meaningful. The festival supported both Hospice at Home and a children’s hospice charity, both of which Pam holds close to her heart.

“I wanted to do something not only to raise money but to show people what a difference hospice care makes,” Pam shared. “Hospice at Home were just incredible—not just when my husband was poorly, but afterwards too.”

Pam spoke warmly of the holistic care she received, especially the complimentary therapy offered to help her cope. One person who stood out in particular was Christie, one of Hospice at Home’s dedicated therapists. “Christie gave me a massage that helped me sleep through the night properly for the first time in weeks,” she recalled, visibly emotional. “She’s just amazing.”

Through her openness, Pam hopes to raise awareness about the breadth of support hospice services offer—not only for those at the end of life, but for their families and loved ones as they navigate grief and recovery.

Lonsdale Fest was a resounding success, not just in terms of fundraising, but in bringing the community together to celebrate life, honour loss, and give thanks. Pam’s story is a moving reminder of how hospice care goes beyond clinical support—it touches lives, brings comfort, and helps rebuild hope, one day at a time.
