Susan’s Story

Finding Purpose in Giving Back: My Journey as a Hospice at Home Volunteer

My name is Susan, and I’ve been a volunteer receptionist at Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland for the past two years. After caring for family members for many years, I found myself searching for a new purpose—something meaningful where I could continue helping others.

Why I Volunteer

I love meeting new people and being able to help in any way I can. Whether it’s welcoming visitors, assisting at events, or simply offering a friendly smile, I find great satisfaction in knowing I’m making a small but meaningful contribution.

Moments That Matter

One of the most uplifting parts of my role is seeing the gratitude from families who have benefited from Hospice at Home’s services. It’s not just about supporting the client—it’s about bringing comfort to their loved ones too.

Why Volunteering is Worthwhile

I would absolutely recommend volunteering to anyone considering it. My advice? “Do it—it’s so worthwhile.” Giving your time to a meaningful cause not only helps others but also brings a deep sense of personal fulfillment.
