Warwick Mill’s Business Support

Warwick Mill’s Ongoing Support Helps Hospice at Home Continue Its Vital Work

This year’s Charity Race Day was made even more special thanks to the heartfelt generosity of Warwick Mill, led by Simon Long. The event, held in celebration of local causes and community spirit, brought together supporters from across the region — but for Simon and his family, it carried a deeply personal meaning.
After experiencing the care and compassion of Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland during his wife Margaret’s final months, Simon felt a strong desire to give something back. He witnessed first-hand the dedication of our nurses and support teams who provided comfort, dignity, and peace — not only to Margaret, but to their entire family at an incredibly difficult time.
“Hospice at Home were there when we needed them most,” Simon shared. “Their kindness and professionalism helped us face each day with strength. Supporting them now feels like the least we can do to ensure others receive that same care.”

More Than a Donation — A Tribute

For Hospice at Home, support like this goes far beyond financial contribution. It is a tribute to the tireless work of our clinical and care teams, who are often the unseen heroes in people’s final chapters. Every home visit, every reassuring word, and every moment of calm they bring into a family’s home is made possible through the generosity of our local community.
With over 85% of our funding raised locally, we rely heavily on donations, fundraising events, and corporate partnerships to continue delivering free, high-quality care to patients across Carlisle, North Lakeland, and surrounding areas. Each act of kindness — whether through an event, a donation, or volunteering — plays a crucial role in helping us reach more families facing life-limiting illness and bereavement.

A Pledge for the Future

Warwick Mill has now pledged ongoing support to Hospice at Home, ensuring that the difference they make continues beyond this year’s event. Their commitment will help fund essential services including nursing care, complementary therapies, bereavement support, and equipment that enables patients to remain in the comfort of their own homes — surrounded by those they love.
Simon and his family’s story is a poignant reminder that hospice care touches every corner of our community. Behind every donation lies a story of love, loss, and gratitude — and every pound raised helps ensure no one has to face those moments alone.
As we look to the future, we are inspired by partnerships like this that remind us of the power of compassion in action. Together, with the support of individuals and local businesses like Warwick Mill, we can continue to be there for families when it matters most — day and night, every day of the year.
