Cumberland Building Society continue their support of local hospices with a £44,000 donation on behalf of their Affinity Account savers.

Last week, we were visited by Phillip Ward, brand manager at The Cumberland who presented Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland with a cheque for £14,787. Before the cheque presentation, our volunteers, who had been invited to the presentation, were also gifted a bouquet of flowers as a thank you for their continued help and support.

From left-right we have Angela, Rosie, Judy and Nicola who all volunteer their time in different ways. Angela and Nicola provide support in the office and at events, Rosie is a shop volunteer whilst Judy is a befriending volunteer.

Appropriately, the sun was shining, which really added to the joyful atmosphere. Our volunteers shared their stories with The Cumberland team which emphasised the gratitude and importance of such a substantial donation from their Affinity Account savers.

When asked about the donation, Julie Blundell, Head of Marketing & Income Generation at Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland, said: “On behalf of our patients, families and carers I would like to thank the Cumberland Building Society for supporting hospice in the home care via the Affinity Account donation. This enormous gift will enable many future members of our community who are enduring difficult times to have the choice to receive hospice care in the home.

The Charity are continually overwhelmed by the kindness and commitment of the Supporters and to receive  this annual major donation is truly appreciated. This year the Charity celebrate 25 years of providing vital care and support to local patient and their families. This significant milestone has been reached thanks to the generosity of many who continue to support our aim of providing local care to local people. Sincere thanks to the Cumberland Building Society for helping us achieve this and making a difference within our community.”
