Cumbria Community Foundation Psychological Support Fund

Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland are thrilled to receive news that support had been given from the Cumbria Community Foundation Psychological Support Fund

This Clinical arm of Hospice at Home receives no funding from external organisations or from the NHS so this support is especially beneficial. The grant was sourced to support a project which would enhance and increase the counselling and support already provided by the Family Support Team of the Charity.

This service of the Charity is available to anyone, regardless of whether Hospice at Home is, or was, involved in the care, providing pre and post bereavement support and counselling.  The Team at Hospice at Home are fully trained and receive support and ongoing training on a regular basis. The service is available for adults of 18 years and over but can offer advice to younger people about suitable specialist services.

The Charity are well aware that the emotional and psychological needs of our local Community who are bereaved are more than ever paramount at this present time. The support of this grant will greatly enhance the Family Support Service, particularly in response to Covid challenges and will help the team to reach out to more individuals. Isolation for the bereaved is a huge issue and increased support for many individuals has been needed at this difficult time for so many.  Alison Manson Counsellor and Family Support Service Lead said ‘this magnificent commitment will now allow the Charity to expand the service and offer further support to many more individuals. This will be of huge benefit, particularly at this potentially crucial isolating time for vulnerable individuals, their families and carers. I would like to thank the Cumbria Community Foundation Psychological Support Fund for making a difference to local bereaved individuals within our community.
