Hospice at Home Shops are welcoming donations soon !!!

The Prime Minister has confirmed that in England, non-essential retail stores, including Charity Shops, will be expected to be able to reopen from 15th June. With new government guidelines in place Hospice at Home are planning a phased return for their Shops which are located in Carlisle, Penrith, Wigton and Keswick.

The first Shop to re-open will be the Carlisle Shop based at Castle Street, Carlisle from Monday 8th June, this will be followed by the Penrith Shop based in Gt Dockray, the Wigton Shop on King Street and the Keswick Shop in Museum Square, Keswick which will all open on the 15th June – **however please note that all the Shops will be open for the delivery of donations only**.

A ‘drop and go system’ will be in place and a special procedure will then follow, to ensure donations are untouched for 72 hours before the retail team then sort, clean and steam it in preparation for the official opening dates.

Announcements will be made on our social media pages and website for the opening dates when once again will be able to welcome customers to enjoy shopping at Hospice at Home.

Julie Blundell Head of Income Generation and Marketing said “We suspect many of our wonderful supporters will have undertaken a lockdown clear-out of wardrobes and cupboards with Charity Shops in mind. We are hopefully preparing to receive these bags and boxes of kindness. I also kindly urge supporters to remember that quality really does count if they want to donate stock to our shops, otherwise their donation could end up costing the Charity money to dispose of.

We want our shoppers to feel safe and comfortable when they visit us so we are preparing to ensure there is lots of signage in the windows and within the Shops to demonstrate the guidance and safety measures advised. Hand sanitiser stations will be available, protective counter shields will be in place and there will be a frequent cleaning plan of objects and surfaces that are touched regularly.

I would like to take this is opportunity in advance to thank the public for supporting our local Charity, Hospice at Home. All funds raised at the Shops will be helping the Clinical Team provide end of life care within the home to the most vulnerable amongst our community.”
