Hospice care for all

A range of leaflets explaining what hospice care is in a simple and easy to understand format are now available in various different languages.

The professionally translated leaflets have been produced jointly by Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland and Hospice at Home West Cumbria as part of a funded project to engage with communities who do not have English as their first language.

Hospice care is available to anyone with a life-shortening illness who lives locally. The specific referral criteria can be found by clicking here.

The leaflets are available in the following languages: Ukrainian, Romanian, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi and Polish.

They highlight:

  • Hospices are charities that provide care for people with a life-shortening illness.
  • Hospices can provide advice and support to families and carers
  • Hospices can help you manage your symptoms
  • Hospices can provide nursing care, and care for you at end of life, in your own home or in our hospice building
  • Hospices can provide counselling after someone has died
